What's new in LMS Test.Lab Revision 10?

The latest LMS Test.Lab Revision 10 release not only offers significant improvements in productivity, efficiency and user-friendliness, it also introduces brand-new tools and applications, such as Time Domain Transfer Path Analysis (TPA) and MIMO FRF testing. LMS Test.Lab Revision 10 also integrates the latest, innovative solutions for acoustic testing – making LMS Test.Lab Revision 10 the most complete acoustic package on the market.

LMS Test.Lab Rev 10B has been released early July 2010. In addition to Rev10 enhancements, the latest revision features numerous improvements that helps LMS Test.Lab users be more efficient in their daily tasks:

  • New mathematical functions can be added to the editing toolbar.
  • Additional functions in the Time Signal Calculator to convert negative channel point directions, to perform non-linear calibration, to compute rpm/time and angle/time traces starting from tacho signals generated with optical measurements of zebra tape glued on a rotating axel and to align channels on the same grid using interpolation.
  • Several improvements in the context of generic strain measurements, such as intelligent default settings and enhanced units support to simplify setup.
  • In the LMS Test.Lab Sine Control workbook, the behavior of the peak estimator can now also be changed to track the absolute peak value as was already possible in LMS Test.Lab Online Sine Data Reduction.
  • In Spectral Testing, we now allow parallel time recording during burst random excitation. Another extension is the gradual build up/down of continuous sources for smooth transition between on/off state.
  • MIMO Sweep and Stepped Sine Testing has been extended with the possibility to make user defined layouts and populate the displays with online data.
  • Signature Testing comes with several extensions, such as selectable bandwidth for static channels up to 1 kHz, support for high precision CAN signals using up to 1kHz sampling rates and zebra tape support with automatic butt-joint-correction for easy tacho acquisition.  In standalone conditions, the SCADAS Recorder can now trigger measurements based on GPS velocity.  Also, with 10B, the SCADAS Recorder can record files larger than 4GB on Compact Flash.
  • It is now possible to measure Reverberation Time according to standards ISO3383 and ISO354.
  • Time domain averaging has been added next to energetic averaging for Sound Intensity measurements to allow studying periodic signals immersed in background noise with increased dynamic range.

LMS Test.Lab MIMO FRF TESTING
Multi-excitation testing made easy – from time history replay to multi-sine

The new LMS Test.Lab MIMO FRF Testing extends the modal testing techniques already available in LMS Test.Lab Spectral Testing and Source Control. With this new solution, users can specify their specific excitation signals, define a shaped amplitude spectrum and extend the application to multi-sine excitation.

Periodic random excitation can be used to obtain the best linear fit for a non-linear system. When real-life excitations are preferred, users can simply record the time data and import it into LMS Test.Lab MIMO FRF Testing for replay. Before data replay, the time data and corresponding power spectral density can be visualized. Scaling and fading functionalities are fully integrated as well.

          • Define excitation spectra with shaped amplitude for random and multi-sine excitation
          • Use periodic random excitation for best linear fit for non-linear systems
          • Arbitrary source replay of several excitations in open
          • Support of multiple sampling rate for acoustic signal and vibration signals
