Vehicle based acquisition system for vehicle noise emission certification and intensive engineering purposes
LMS provides a vehicle-based acquisition system for noise emission evaluation of vehicles against predefined targets, legislative standards like the ISO 362, SAE J1470 and upcoming standards with a strong focus on enabeling high channel counts for parallel engineering analysis measurements. Addionally, the acquisition and analysis tools for in-depth engineering analysis of noise emissions enable the user to design for noise emission levels lower then ever and achieving attractive brand sound characteristics.

For data acquisition, LMS provides the portable LMS SCADAS 305 front-end, supporting 4 channels of ICP, Voltage or polarization microphones, 8 channels of generic ICP and Voltage signals and 2 tacho inputs. State of the art PBN hardware from TESCON is used for both signal conditioning (for engine and vehicle speed, and throttle kick down) and telemetry (for transfer of data from track to vehicle). Additionally TESCON provides accessories such as light barriers, weather stations, sensors, microphones, etc. This combination allows full flexibility in the setup with highly reliable data acquisition.
LMS Test.Lab guides the user in an intuitive way from the test setup through the measurement and analysis, to the reporting phase. The procedure is automatically determined by the standard or company target and according to the vehicle parameters entered at the documentation stage. Parallel to the acquisition of the required microphone and speed measurement as specified in the standards, up to 16 channels are available for dynamic acoustics or vibration signal measurements in the vehicle (e.g. tire, engine, exhaust). The PBN throughput acquisition workbook writes these time data files directly to the Laptop hard disk and the data is then available for advanced post-processing with the Throughput Validation and Processing application where functions such as spectral/order/octave maps, section, overall levels, etc can be performed
