The LMS Qsources Integral Shaker, an Inertia Shaker with integrated sensors

Integral ShakerIn order to cover a broader range of applications, LMS Engineering Services developed another inertia shaker that includes the domain of mid-weight structural testing. In principle it has the same advantages as the LMS Qsources Miniature Shaker but it can be used to excite larger structures.
The Integral Shaker is easy to mount and can be used on a very broad range of structures. Typical objects are: complete road vehicles, vehicle bodies, powertrain/driveline, suspension systems, aircraft and railway bodies and systems, machinery from 2 to 2000 Kg weight, structures up to 10 m or 4000 Kg weight.

A unique internal suspension combined with a larger inertia mass allows a relative high energy input in structures without a significant increase in mass loading. The Integral Shaker is able to generate a force of 10N rms with a flat spectrum over a frequency range from 22 up to 2200Hz.
Together with integrated force and acceleration sensors it is a complete structural exciter for performing modal analysis (EMA) and transfer path applications (TPA).

It improves the efficiency of testing by eliminating all of the support and alignment work associated with shaker testing as it is self-supporting. A new mounting principle allows very fast mounting of the device to the test structure saving additional preparation time. Just as with the Miniature Shaker, this shaker can be glued to the test object, so there’s no need for extra support. The special mounting bases protect the shaker from excessive glue. Due to the unique suspension, the force is always aligned along the internal stinger axis. The short instrumentation time together with its compact size makes it ideal for TPA measurements on vehicles.

The Integral Shaker can be controlled by LMS Test.Lab Structures. The signal from the output module of the LMS SCADAS III can be amplified with a LMS Qsources Measurement Amplifier to use the full shakerforce output . The integrated transducers are ICP-type sensors and are fully compatible with the LMS SCADAS III input modules.
